Native to South America. This evergreen tree has been planted extensively in the past. A fast growing tree with compound leaves hat provide a dappled shade. Flowers are insignificant followed by pink to red woody seeds similar to the true pepper. However they are not edible and are considered to have toxic side effects when eaten in high doses. Can be invasive.
