The name is taken from Greek Calophylla, meaning beautiful leaf. This is a common tree in Australia's southwest. Marri is a large shade tree that is suitable for large areas. Originally described as a species of Eucalyptus. It bears large clusters of white to creamy flowers in summer to winter months. The fruit is urn shaped with a narrow neck that became the inspiration of 'May Gibbs' Gumnut babies stories.
Forestvale Trees acknowledges the traditional custodians of this land, on which we grow our trees, the Whadjuk Noongars from the Noongar nation of Australia. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging.
